2 women forcefully rescued from inside Enbridge pipeline

The tube, which was capped at one end, had a temperature of almost 130 degrees with reduced oxygen, according to the task force. The women brought respirators into the pipeline and refused to leave.

A firefighter went in first to try to get the women to voluntarily exit the pipeline but had to leave due to a lack of oxygen in his tank, the press release said. An officer then stepped in to make further attempts to get the women to walk peacefully and one of the women said they had a little more than three minutes in their respirators but still refused to walk.

The officer then used ropes to secure them all so the field crew could safely pull them all out, the task force said.

After their absence, both women were treated for abrasions and oxygen and heat problems, the task force said. They were then taken into custody and sent to the Aitkin County Adult Detention Center.
