$50,000 grant awarded to evaluate wastewater system improvements for New Bloomfield

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded the City of New Bloomfield a $50,000 Clean Water Engineering Report Grant to evaluate the city’s wastewater and collection system.

“An important part of our work is helping Missouri communities maintain and improve their aging water treatment systems,” Dru Buntin, director of the Department of Natural Resources, said in a news release.

The city will use the grant to identify sewerage system improvements needed to keep the area operating reliably, meet permitting requirements, and reduce stormwater intrusion into sewer headers. The facility plan should be ready in December 2023.

“One way to do that is by offering financial assistance through programs like the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. Through this and other available assistance programs, communities can improve critical infrastructure, protect public health and the environment, and experience real economic benefits,” Buntin said in a press release.
