Visakhapatnam: Adani Gangavaram Port, the deepest and one of the most modern ports in India, has deployed special teams and mechanized equipment to assist the city of Visakhapatnam in cleaning sewers and other critical drainage routes to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall caused by a deep low pressure area moving north
This initiative comes at a crucial time as Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) teams have been deployed to Vijayawada to support relief efforts following severe flooding there since August 31, 2024. AGPL teams have stepped in to ensure that Visakhapatnam's major roads remain functional and reduce the risk of water logging and flooding. Flooding has been occurring there since August 31, 2024. AGPL's deployment in Pedagantyada and Gajuwaka was crucial in preventing water logging and maintaining operations of major roads despite the challenging weather conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, the management of Adani Gangavaram Port Limited said, “We at Adani Gangavaram Port believe in standing by the community in times of need. By deploying our specialised teams and equipment, we are helping in clearing the drains and ensuring that Visakhapatnam's infrastructure withstands the ongoing rains,” an AGPL spokesperson said. This timely deployment reflects AGPL's commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the local community and ensures that the critical infrastructure remains functional even during extreme weather conditions.
