A BENDIGO man was fined more than $ 1000 for performing plumbing and construction work without a license or registration. The 60-year-old man appeared before Bendigo Magistrates’ Court this week, pleading guilty to two indictments of unregistered construction and plumbing in California Gully in 2018. The 60-year-old man appeared before Bendigo Magistrates’ Court this week, pleading guilty to two charges related to unregistered construction and plumbing in California Gully in 2018.

The man was hired to tear down the back of a storm-damaged house, remove and replace a large window, and replace a downspout, gutters, drain, architrave, skirting boards, skylights and roofing sheeting.

A month later, he was asked to install gutters and roofs for a total of $ 16,300.

In November 2018, a downpour caused the gutter to overflow and water to run on the inside of a wall.

Another storm about six months later caused further property damage.

As a result of the work, mold developed in the house and the plasterboard and lighting fixtures were damaged.

The man was given a 24 month good conduct guarantee without conviction. He was also sentenced to pay $ 800 to the court fund and $ 500 in legal costs.
