Bexar County commissioners to get updates on plumbing assistance efforts, COVID upgrades

Bexar County’s officers will be briefed during a face-to-face meeting on Tuesday morning at the County Courthouse of the county’s plumbing program to help residents affected by last month’s winter storm.

Commissioners had approved a sanitation program of up to $ 5 million with reimbursements of up to $ 1,500 per household for parts and labor for residents in unincorporated areas and suburban towns.

The county estimates that it has also distributed more than 40,000 cases of bottled water in areas with no running water, some in remote areas that are served by private wells.

The employees of the district recommend that the district conclude an agreement with A-Ram Plumbing as part of the district’s “I need a plumber” program. District officials said there are 46 water utilities in the district serving residents who are not eligible for the sanitation assistance offered by the San Antonio Water System.

The commissioners will also discuss and possibly take action with Marmon Mok Architects on a proposed $ 1.17 million agreement for design development and other work at a labor training center in the county. a report listing four offers for a pilot waste management program in the Camelot II, Candlewood, Crownwood and Glen neighborhoods that do not have permanent service in the eastern part of the county; an update of the legislative period; and facility upgrades related to COVID-19.

In May 2020, commissioners approved a $ 5.4 million allocation to the Coronavirus Relief Fund for indoor air quality improvements, improved shielding and monitoring, and other equipment and materials to improve the county’s 3 million square feet of indoor space.

Major upgrades include $ 2.2 million at the AT&T Center, $ 2.1 million at the Center for Health Care Services, $ 1.2 million at the Freeman Coliseum and adjacent grounds, and $ 404,000 Dollars at Toyota Field.
