Builders’ Merchants News – City Plumbing names new Commercial Director

City Plumbing has welcomed Dominic Sakar as commercial director.

Sakar brings over 20 years of experience in product and category management, the last seven of which have been in the retail sector.

As Commercial Director, Sakar will be instrumental in maintaining strong supplier relationships for the UK's leading plumbing and heating retailer. Sakar also aims to drive new product development and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the sales team by working closely with sales and commercial colleagues.

Commenting on his appointment, Sakar said: “What attracted me to this role is City Plumbing and the desire of the entire Highbourne Group to never stand still. I share a passion for delivering excellence and being forward-thinking, and there is huge potential to build on the company's already strong foundations.

“What’s unique about the company is that its ambition is also combined with a focus on people – customers, colleagues and supplier partners – and I witnessed first-hand the company’s friendly and approachable culture early in my role. There is a real desire to work together for the benefit of the customer.”

“One of my key priorities will also be to support the continued growth of our established renewable energy business and help our and their customers navigate the changing landscape of low-temperature heating systems and realize the associated potential.”

Commenting on Sakar's appointment, Adam Foy, Chief Commercial Officer of City Plumbing, said: “The addition of Dominic is a real coup for our company as he brings a wealth of experience and shares our view on the importance of innovation and customer-centric thinking.” He is also a Big advocate of inclusivity and team collaboration – a core value at City Plumbing.”
