Severn Trent Water dispatched its teams to the SY15 area of Church Stoke and advised its customers at 11.09am that they would get to work as soon as they arrived.
They had hoped to have the pipe repaired and supplies running by 3 p.m., but the problem lasted longer than expected.
The message that the repair was complete came a minute before 6 p.m.
The company warned that it could take between one and two hours for water pressure to return to normal. And the workers would stay in the area, but it shouldn’t affect the water supply.
A company spokesman thanked the water customers for their “continued patience during this time”.
