CAPA starts third stage of pipe replacement in Bacalar

Bacalar, QR — Work began on Monday to replace old water pipes around the city of Bacalar. The Commission for Drinking Water and Sanitation (CAPA) announced that it will begin on Monday the sectorization, replacement of pipes and micrometering of the drinking water distribution network of the city of Bacalar.

The start of the work is the third phase and costs 9.7 million pesos. The financing is provided by the Drinking Water, Wastewater and Treatment Program (Proagua) with state and federal participation through the National Water Commission (Conagua).

The replacement project will begin on August 5 and last until August 30. The streets affected are 7th Avenue between 36th Street and 32nd Street and 36th Street between 7th Avenue and 1st Street, as they will be partially closed to traffic.

The project includes, among other things, digging trenches, installing pipes of different diameters, installing water meters and replacing asphalt.

The project is being carried out by CAPA (Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado) and, once completed, will provide better service to 1,758 residents of the city capital.
