Starting December 23, the city will allow all private customers with a 5/8″ to land
Meters for an additional 2,000 gallons of water per billing period. This does not apply to
Trailer parks or apartment buildings that run through a main meter and don’t get one
individual invoice. The bill you receive in February shows that your standard base rate of
4,000 gallons increased to 6,000 gallons at no extra cost.
The frost level in the ground has reached almost 4 feet deep. If you have a shallow water
or have had problems with your house water freezing in the past, you may want to keep water running to avoid freezing the pipes.
In most cases, a jet of water the size of a pencil lead is sufficient.
The city will issue another clearance when it is safe to stop the flowing water. Another tip to help
Prevent pipes from freezing by keeping your kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors open
circulate warmer air around the plumbing fixtures. Be sure to move any harmful cleaning supplies
and household chemicals out of the reach of children and pets. We also recommend running
Water at the taps along the outer walls or in rarely used places to hold back the water
move around the house.
Please note that your 2023 wastewater fee is based on your average for November and December
water use. If you start running water before December 23, you may see a
increased wastewater rate in 2023.
