Cobb & Douglas Public Health can provide Septic Tank Pumping Reimbursement for Cobb homeowners

Cobb & Douglas Public Health issued the following press release regarding the availability of funds for homeowner septic tank pumping:

Cobb & Douglas Public Health is providing a one-time water bill incentive of up to $250 to Cobb County homeowners who have their septic tanks pumped through a grant from the Cobb County government's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

To promote environmental health and support community well-being, Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) is pleased to announce the launch of a new septic tank pumping incentive program. This initiative aims to encourage first-time homeowners to perform regular maintenance on their septic tanks to prevent system failures, protect water quality, and ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for all.

Proper septic tank maintenance is essential to the efficient operation of septic tanks, which are essential to the wastewater disposal of many Cobb County homes. Without regular pumping (recommended every 3-5 years), septic tanks can fail prematurely, leading to costly repairs and potential environmental hazards. The Septic Tank Pumping Incentive Program is designed to help homeowners reduce these risks by providing a financial incentive for regular pumping and septic tank maintenance.

Homeowners participating in the program will receive a credit of up to $250 (based on actual service costs) after their septic tank is pumped out by a state-approved provider. Eligible services must be completed between July 1, 2023, and September 30, 2026, or until grant funds are exhausted (whichever occurs first).

Homeowners interested in the septic tank pumping incentive program can sign up by following these simple steps:

  1. For more details and a list of state-approved septic tank pumping companies, visit our website to learn about the process for requesting a water bill credit.
  2. Schedule a Service Appointment: Contact a state-licensed septic tank emptying company to schedule a septic tank emptying appointment.
  3. Submit a Water Bill Credit Request: Upon completion of service, submit your septic tank emptying receipt/proof through our online portal or mail the request and receipts to Cobb Environmental Health, Water Bill Credit Request, 1650 County Services Parkway, Marietta, GA 30008
  4. Get a credit on your water bill: Once approved, your credit of up to $250 should appear on your Cobb County or city water bill within 90 days.

“Cobb & Douglas Public Health is committed to supporting the environmental health of our community,” said Dr. Janet Memark, CDPH District Health Director. “This program not only provides financial relief to homeowners, but also emphasizes the importance of septic system maintenance to prevent environmental pollution.”
