Donovan company asks community to step up for veteran, foster family of 9 after house catches fire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Donovan Air, Electric & Plumbing stepped in to help after hearing from a veteran and his family left with nothing after an electrical fire.

The Cevallos’ residence was badly damaged and unfortunately the insurance only paid for part of the damage – not all of it. That’s when Donovan Air, Electric & Plumbing heard the family story and stepped in to help.

The company installed free air conditioning and plumbing in the Cevallos family’s home to mitigate the devastation the family suffered.

“They would be homeless in a week if they couldn’t put their house back together,” the company said.

Marcos Cevallos is a veteran and has proudly served our country for 10 years. On his last assignment, Marcos and his wife served as foster parents and took three more children into their family. He recently left the military and his family has now grown to nine, including a newborn.

“Marcos has set a good example for many years,” the company said.

Although the company has done some work, there is more that the family needs.

“Their insurance company has them in a temporary home that they have to move out of in a week – but their home is still in ruins,” reads one post. “They need appliances, construction cleaning, paint, moving help, air conditioning and money.”

A GoFundMe has been set up for those who want to help the family get back on their feet. Those wishing to donate a refrigerator, microwave, roof, windows, larger vehicle, etc. are asked to contact Amanda Soto (Donovan HR) at 904-544-9730.

“Let’s help someone who has proudly served our country, community and family,” the company said.
