FARGO, ND (KVRR) – A downtown Fargo business is cleaning up after the owner says five feet of water and thousands of pounds of gravel entered the basement during a water main outage.
It happened earlier this week in front of High Road Partners on the 200 block of NP Avenue.
The lower level of the company, a human resources and social security company, is also home to owner Michelle Kommer and her daughter.
The elevator, two boilers and a water heater were destroyed along with many personal belongings. Kommer estimates the damage will cost $500,000.
She’s hoping the city’s insurance company will pay for it, as she doesn’t think her insurance company will.
“Hopefully the fair outcome happens because it just doesn’t seem fair that we have to endure this kind of damage financially and emotionally and have to deal with it on our own,” Kommer said.
The City of Fargo says it is working with Kommer to file an insurance claim with the city’s utility.
High Road Partners staff ensure that Kommer’s family photos are saved.
