Work on the project should begin this month, the city announced in a press release on Monday.

“Knowing that 225+ Elyria households are no longer concerned about the quality of their drinking water and potential lead, which really means no final cost to the city or taxpayers, is all a blessing,” said Mayor Frank Whitfield said.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Drinking Water Aid Fund program addresses lead problems in drinking water through grant-like home loan facilities. That is the source of $ 922,062 in funding.
