Farranfore water pipe replacement to cost €2 million

Irish Water will spend € 2 million to replace a water pipe in Farranfore that regularly bursts.

The main aqueduct on the N22 is part of a network that delivers water from Killarney to Tralee, Castleisland, Castlemaine and the surrounding area.

Regular disruptions leave homes and businesses out of water and result in the closure of one of the county’s busiest roads, the N22 Tralee Killarney Road in Farranfore.

The replacement work starts tonight and will be carried out Monday evening through Friday morning between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. until the end of October.

There will be a single lane stop-go system during those hours, but Irish Water’s Paul Moroney says there was no way to keep the road completely open for this major project.
