The theft came to light during an inspection on December 10 and an FIR was lodged at the Sector 31 police station.
Three electric water heaters and as many ceiling fans and kitchen sinks as well as eight water meters were allegedly stolen from the Indian Air Force (IAF) duty quarters in Chandigarh’s Sector 47, officials said.
The service quarters are under the jurisdiction of 12 WG Station Security Officer, Chandigarh. Wing Commander B Bhattacharya lodged an FIR at the Section 31 police station.

An inspection on Dec. 10 uncovered theft in at least 10 neighborhoods. A team from Sector 31 police station visited the quarters.
According to sources, a suspected drug addict was arrested. “An investigation is ongoing. At first glance, this is the work of drug addicts. A suspect is being questioned. The IAF personnel informed us that these quarters had been lying empty for a long time and there was a proposal for their demolition,” police said.
