Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed Emergency Executive Order 23-04 on Friday to grant regulatory relief to sewer system service companies.
The arrangement exempts septic tank trucks from seasonal loading restrictions on Minnesota roads. Increased snow and rain levels have taken a toll on sewage treatment plants across the state, causing septic tanks to take in water, septic tanks to flood fields, and alarms and lift pumps to fail. According to a press release from the governor’s office, the lifting of load restrictions will allow treatment companies to meet increased demand.
