One resident posted on social media that he “woke up this morning without water.”
The burst pipe on Davidson Terrace resulted in “a loss of water supply/low pressure in the EH41 postcode”, with Scottish Water investigating at around 9.05am.
Scottish Water released an update at 11.20am outlining the cause of the water supply problems and warning that the burst pipe “may cause traffic disruptions during repair work”.
Prentice bus service 111 has been affected by the issue and will be diverted via the A199 Haldane Avenue until further notice.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: “We are currently repairing a burst water pipe on Davidson Terrace in Haddington.
“We have staff on site carrying out a repair and the estimated completion time is approximately 2.30pm.”
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”
The website states that water supply to customers will gradually return to normal after repairs are completed.
