Hampshire plumber sheds six stone and becomes a personal trainer

A CHANLER’S Ford plumber has seen 40kg – more than six stone – go down the drain forever.

And Wayne Gentry loved the workouts in his new fitness program so much that he qualified as a personal trainer.

The 43-year-old bathroom fitter, plumber and tiler weighed 123kg – about 19.5 stone – when he signed up at this local gym, Studio Twenty 3, last summer.

With the advice and support of the personal training team and following a calorie controlled diet, he lost the weight in just six months and has maintained his lower weight for years.

Wayne has also dramatically changed his body shape and confidence.

His whole attitude towards training changed and Wayne enrolled in Studio Twenty 3’s Level 3 Personal Training qualification.

Daily Echo:

He is now qualified and has taken on some of his own 1-2-1 clients alongside his plumbing business.

Wayne said: “I signed up in June 2021 as I was very unhealthy, overweight and having trouble just moving.

“I thought it was going to be so difficult, but after the first month and after the first stone was gone, I wanted to do more.

“I was doing four workouts a week and I was getting healthier, stronger and fitter. The PT course also helped me improve.

“In the beginning I was completely unmotivated and I think what put me off is that I thought it was going to be a really long journey, but after a few months I really saw results. You have to be determined, but keep doing it!”

Daily Echo:

Gareth Allen, owner of Studio Twenty 3 and Studio Twenty 3 – Academy added: “I’ve seen transformations, 5kg, 10kg, 20kg, but nothing like that.

“The way Wayne approached this health and fitness challenge was just outstanding. His work ethic and discipline have produced results that even I didn’t expect.

“To take this newfound passion for health and fitness to a whole new level through our training academy is absolutely amazing. Congratulations to the team that has led Wayne on this journey.”
