HGTV’s Down Home Fab Recommends Relocating Your Bathroom In One Specific Instance

During a remodel, Chelsea and her husband Cole DeBoer decide to move the powder room only after the homeowner pointed out the unfortunate location. The owner says, “Part of our bathroom problem is that it’s right here in the middle of the room where everyone hangs out,” per Realtor.com. The problem with this is that it doesn’t give much privacy to the person using the bathroom, and it can also cause odors in areas where they shouldn’t be, like the kitchen.

If this is the case in your home, you might want to move your bathroom away from the main living area, perhaps down a hallway or behind a partition. To save money, the DeBoers decide to move it to the previous laundry room since the plumbing is already hooked up there. While they still have to spend a portion of the homeowner’s budget on things like fixtures and flooring, they save a lot of money when the plumbing is already installed. Then they move the laundry room to the second level, since that’s where the bedrooms are, and turn the old powder room into a pantry.
