Hi-Desert Water District meets today (Jan. 18) – 400 properties still on septic face fines

This afternoon (January 18, 2023) at 4:00 p.m., the Hi-Desert Water District of Yucca Valley meets at the district office off the Inca Trail Highway. And in Joshua Tree, the regular meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District begins at 5:30 p.m. at the main office on Chollita Road. The public is invited to attend the sessions either in person or remotely.

The approximately 400 properties that remain not in compliance with the regional water board’s sewer connection policy remain a priority for the district. Properties still using septic systems may have to decide whether to take out a low-interest 1.8 percent loan now to pay for the hookup or face a $5,000-per-day penalty.

And further down the highway, Joshua Basin Water District directors will receive a first-quarter financial report, review eligibility criteria for nominating an accounting firm, and continue the awards for retired Mojave Water Agency director Jim Ventura.
