Home Depot’s prefab, 1 bedroom home kit latest housing crisis solution

If you are looking for a backyard retreat or are looking for a potential solution to the housing shortage, modern prefab tiny houses could be your answer.

Depending on the size, features, and assembly requirements of the unit, Home Depot’s prefabricated tiny houses cost around $4,000 to $40,000. One curious online user popped the question in a tweet with a picture of Home Depot’s $44,000 one bed and one bath prefab home that measured 50 square feet: “Thoughts?”

Although the product description says it’s “architecturally designed to provide additional space outside of your home for personal use,” one user responding to the tweet said it might be easier than ever to “off the grid.” get”.

But there’s always a catch.

Although the product’s example image shows a finished house, the kit includes only a steel frame – made from “high quality,” termite-resistant steel that requires little maintenance and “doesn’t bend, twist, warp, or go moldy.” ” – as well as the necessary components to assemble the product.

In addition, steel frame buildings are not infested by rodents and other insects, are fireproof and recyclable, claims the company PLUS 1 Homes.

The frame features pre-punched holes for “easier installation of electrical and plumbing fixtures” and accommodates two mini-kitchens – one on the wall opposite the sofa and another in the upstairs deck area.

All available models can be modified to meet the demands of earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, heavy snow loads or any other circumstance to “meet Mother Nature’s challenges” and protect your investment.

Frame kits can range in size from 96 square feet to 3,000 square feet, larger if needed, and all models come with upgrade options.

Can you have the prefab house built before delivery?

The company does not pre-build the home but can connect buyers with their local build partners to help them with the project.

If you do decide to take the plunge, be sure to check local zoning codes and restrictions to ensure a project is properly approved, the company says.
