hey kids
0:02
nice to see you again so today i’m going
0:04
to show you how to install a kitchen
0:06
faucet and today’s video is actually
0:08
sponsored by american standard and i
0:11
don’t know about you but for me when i
0:13
think of american standard i think of
0:14
quality uh
0:16
bathroom products like toilets and sinks
0:18
and that sort of thing but boy they sure
0:20
have some nice faucets as well and so
0:23
they reached out to me and i thought
0:24
it’s perfect because when i remodeled my
0:26
kitchen i could show
0:27
how to install that so this video will
0:30
show you how to install a semi-pro
0:32
kitchen faucet
0:34
uh the install on other semi-pros is
0:36
generally
0:38
about the same they should be close and
0:40
this gives you a nice understanding of
0:42
how that’s all hooked up so i think this
0:45
will help you with you know other
0:46
faucets as well
0:48
um but first i have a dad joke for you
0:50
so
0:51
uh you know
0:52
at one point i thought about going into
0:55
building
0:56
countertops for kitchens but then i
0:58
realized it was counterproductive
1:00
ah so anyway let’s get started this is
1:03
how you install
1:05
an american standard it’s called the
1:07
studio s
1:09
faucet and
1:11
this is new construction right so we’re
1:13
in the middle of a kitchen remodel as
1:15
you can see it’s a little bit of a mess
1:17
here but i wanted to walk you through
1:18
how to install this
1:20
and you know when they cut our our
1:22
island
1:23
the countertop or the yeah the
1:25
countertop and for the sink
1:27
and
1:28
they asked us how many holes we wanted
1:29
and we opted for three
1:31
i think it’s a good idea to just go
1:34
ahead and get the three cut because you
1:35
know sometimes you’ll get a sink that
1:37
will have two knobs but what we’re gonna
1:39
use are three four uh so that then
1:42
they’re there for somebody if they want
1:43
to switch the faucet
1:45
uh we’re gonna have the faucet here and
1:47
the faucet actually has uh the
1:50
the control right on the faucet i’ll
1:52
show you that in just a second and then
1:54
um we’re gonna have a push button for
1:56
our garbage disposal and then we’re
1:58
gonna have a soap dispenser here so we
2:00
just opted for the three and then that
2:01
way you got options right because if we
2:03
just did two
2:04
and then later somebody wanted to change
2:06
the faucet then they’d be stuck or
2:08
they’d have to drill a new hole so i’m
2:10
just going to walk you through that now
2:12
so
2:14
here is the faucet it’s called a studio
2:16
s
2:18
okay
2:19
pretty nice
2:20
faucet and it’s fairly easy to install
2:24
okay so it comes let’s see
2:28
it comes with this and i’ll
2:30
you know get a close-up of all this here
2:32
in just a minute i backed up because i
2:34
wanted you to see these three holes that
2:35
we had and now we can we can move it in
2:37
a little closer but there’s uh just a
2:40
few parts that come with it okay i
2:42
actually have these already sitting out
2:44
here
2:46
the first one is this it’s a it’s a ring
2:49
and you can see where it goes it’s going
2:51
to go up right inside this there’s a
2:53
spot for it so i’m going to move the
2:55
camera so you can see all this stuff
2:58
okay so this is what the faucet consists
3:00
of i’m just going to go ahead and set
3:02
this down gently here
3:04
okay as you can see this is the control
3:06
here right for the for the water okay
3:10
and it actually has a
3:12
spray nozzle built into it
3:15
and it as you can see on these hoses
3:18
they’re marked with a red stripe
3:21
and a blue stripe so red is hot of
3:23
course and blue is cold
3:25
and then this is the spray okay so what
3:29
it’s going to do is when we get um down
3:31
underneath we’re gonna feed all these
3:33
through here okay through the center one
3:36
and then when this up when we’re up
3:38
underneath there this is gonna i’m gonna
3:39
show you this now because it’s gonna be
3:41
harder to see when you’re up inside
3:42
there this is gonna go here it’s going
3:45
to slide in and then this is going to
3:46
slide over the top of it just like that
3:49
okay so but i’ll show you i’ll try to
3:51
show you that from underneath but i
3:52
thought i’d show that to you now while i
3:54
could
3:56
okay so this is the piece here i want to
3:58
make sure you can actually see it
4:00
okay that’s the piece that’s going to
4:02
slide over the top of this and fit in
4:04
there
4:05
okay and then you got this one that’s a
4:06
little
4:07
uh
4:09
flatter than that one i guess it’s got a
4:11
little this one’s sticking up just a
4:12
little bit more uh and so that will be
4:15
the next piece when we’re underneath
4:18
we’re gonna put that on
4:20
then we’re gonna put this on
4:23
okay like that
4:24
and then we’re gonna screw this on okay
4:27
we’re gonna screw it onto these threads
4:29
and we’re just gonna spin that around
4:32
and then once you get it tight
4:34
then you take these
4:35
these screws right here and you just
4:37
tighten those up to make sure it’s good
4:39
and tight okay and then that’ll be what
4:40
that looks like from down below
4:43
okay
4:47
okay so you can see you’ve got a couple
4:49
rubber gaskets here
4:51
okay
4:52
and one’s a little thinner
4:54
and what this one’s for is we’re going
4:56
to slip that on
4:57
we slip it on over
5:00
these guys here and it goes all the way
5:02
up in here and then it actually fits
5:04
right inside here i’m going to try to
5:06
show that
5:09
it too fits right inside there
5:11
okay
5:12
and that’s gonna sit on the top
5:15
okay
5:17
all right so
5:18
now
5:19
we’re gonna go ahead and feed
5:21
our hoses down inside okay
5:27
just like that i got a little bit of
5:29
piping down there so i’m fighting that a
5:31
little bit but
5:32
there we go just like that
5:34
one thing i noticed on this too is if
5:37
you wanted to have this i have we’re
5:39
gonna have it on our right side it looks
5:40
like you could actually
5:42
put it on the left side if you wanted to
5:45
but we’re putting it on the right side
5:48
okay so that’s that and then i’m gonna
5:50
show you from down underneath what all
5:52
that looks like
6:10
okay
6:12
let’s try it again
6:14
[Music]
6:15
fairly tight up in here oh we need that
6:18
one too
6:23
[Music]
6:28
okay
6:30
now that guy’s gonna go over there
6:39
we got the biggest sink
6:43
because we’re going to make sure we had
6:44
a big sink but boy it’s uh
6:46
sure it’s tight back here
6:49
okay
6:53
remember the order that i told you that
6:54
all those pieces went in
6:55
[Music]
6:57
it’s kind of hard to show you now so
7:00
here we go though okay now that we got
7:04
let’s see so the rubber is first right
7:06
then i got this piece that’s gonna push
7:08
against it once i
7:10
tighten those screws down
7:13
[Music]
7:16
let me make sure you’re seeing that
7:23
yep i think you’re seeing that so i’m
7:26
just gonna keep keep cruising here
7:32
[Music]
7:36
i got a lot of threads on it
7:39
kind of nice actually because i was able
7:41
to
7:41
get it started
7:45
down here fairly close to me right
7:49
okay
7:50
we’re getting close to
7:52
it being kind of
7:54
tight
7:55
okay and those screws sure are handy
7:58
[Music]
8:00
to get it
8:01
kind of tight and then now we’ll just
8:02
use a screwdriver
8:05
hand tighten it right now but we’ll just
8:06
use a screwdriver and tighten all three
8:08
of those up
8:09
[Music]
8:10
okay and then that’ll make sure that’s
8:13
secure
8:14
all right let me get a screwdriver
8:21
okay
8:22
i’m gonna
8:24
jetty is my drill
8:33
[Music]
8:44
all right so i’m gonna go ahead and
8:45
connect this guy
8:47
while i can
8:50
okay so that just slides into there
8:53
and clips in
8:55
and there’s a little collar that slides
8:56
over the top of it
8:59
okay that’s locked in good
9:06
okay so this is my hot
9:08
and this is my cold okay
9:11
and so i’m gonna hook those two up i’m
9:13
gonna use teflon tape which i’ve showed
9:15
you before in another video all it is is
9:17
just
9:18
uh it’s like a plastic well it’s made a
9:20
tough one i guess
9:22
and it whenever you’re connecting metal
9:25
on metal you always want to use teflon
9:27
tape okay metal threads
9:29
because that just keeps it makes it a
9:31
nice seal
9:32
and we have
9:34
um
9:35
these things are facing this way so i
9:37
have
9:38
uh uh some threads here and i actually
9:41
have some threads here because
9:43
um my dishwasher will connect to that my
9:46
dishwasher isn’t here yet so i had to
9:48
cap this i just put a cap on it i used
9:52
teflon tape and then i put a cap
9:54
on that particular one because when you
9:55
turn this on
9:57
uh you’re gonna have water going out
9:58
both those um so i had to cap that it’ll
10:01
come off of here
10:02
for my for my faucet
10:04
and then this will be the one for the uh
10:07
for the cold okay it’s gonna be a little
10:10
little tight here so i don’t know
10:12
if i’m gonna be able to show this to you
10:14
but i can at least kind of show you what
10:17
i’m gonna do
10:21
if i can get to it and still keep my
10:22
camera in place okay
10:25
so this guy is gonna connect right here
10:27
okay but i’m gonna put on some
10:30
teflon tape on it and then i’m going to
10:32
tighten it okay
10:34
and then same thing with the the blue
10:36
one
10:38
it’s going to connect right here
10:40
okay
10:41
and i’m going to put some teflon tape on
10:43
that so
10:44
so what you want to do because i’m not
10:45
going to be able to show you this i
10:46
don’t think you just put the teflon tape
10:49
on
10:50
clockwise okay so we’re going to put
10:52
this on and we’re going to wrap it
10:53
clockwise the same way
10:56
that we’re actually screwing the
10:59
the nut on okay so
11:02
i’m going to try to record this if i can
11:04
but it might be hard
11:06
because i just don’t have a whole lot of
11:07
room under here
11:09
and then that guy’s going to go right
11:11
onto there
11:14
the red stripes onto the hot okay
11:16
[Music]
11:22
let’s get it started first
11:32
okay
11:34
so now i’m just threading that on
11:39
okay
11:40
and then i’m going to tighten that up
11:43
i had my wrench right here
11:49
okay
11:50
don’t over tighten this right
11:53
i just want to make it snug but don’t
11:55
over tighten it
11:59
okay
12:01
all right so we’re good there we’re
12:03
gonna do the same thing on the cold
12:07
okay we’re gonna try to do get a shot of
12:09
this but you just saw how i did the
12:12
hot water
12:13
so
12:15
you just do the cold water the same way
12:23
hopefully there’s a little wiggle room
12:24
with
12:25
the pipe so i can move them around
12:29
okay
12:33
[Music]
12:40
we’ll have the moment of truth here in
12:41
just a second see if it actually
12:44
make sure things don’t leak
12:49
we’ve been without a kitchen faucet for
12:51
about
12:52
three weeks so
12:55
we are excited to get this going
12:58
[Music]
13:00
okay
13:06
is that not the right size
13:11
[Music]
13:15
i think i might need a different wrench
13:16
for this one
13:17
let’s see no there we go i just wasn’t
13:20
putting it on right okay again don’t
13:22
over tighten you just want it snug
13:23
though
13:24
you don’t want it loose and you don’t
13:26
want it too
13:32
tight okay i think that looks pretty
13:35
good
13:36
i’m gonna go ahead and turn on the water
13:39
now
13:41
okay the moment of truth we’re turning
13:43
on the water
13:48
okay let’s try the other one
13:58
okay that should be good
14:00
let’s go try out our
14:03
our faucet from above
14:07
okay moment of truth let’s check it out
14:13
[Music]
14:40
there’s gonna be air
14:42
air in the lines and show you for a
14:44
little bit
14:50
all right so here it is uh
14:53
you know we’ve owned it for about two
14:54
months now and we absolutely love it
14:57
uh you know couldn’t be happier with it
14:59
it’s very well made and as long as you
15:01
you install it correctly i think you’ll
15:04
have it and love it for years
15:06
um because it’s a nice solid base here
15:09
and then it’s got the nice coil to cover
15:11
up the hose that’s coming through here
15:13
to make it practical you know i like
15:15
practical things uh and you know it’s
15:18
fairly simple and yet it’s really nice
15:20
looking and so you just turn it on there
15:23
for cold and turn it up for hot and then
15:26
you have the
15:28
um
15:30
lever here that just turns this into a
15:32
shower if you want it and then this just
15:34
unclips like that
15:36
right and then you can do it
15:40
like that
15:41
so and then it goes right back in
15:43
uh
15:45
pretty simple yet it uh really adds to
15:47
our kitchen we’re very pleased with this
15:49
faucet
