James Albert Kitchen went to heaven at his Rainier home with his wife by his side on September 12, 2021. He was born on January 14, 1934 in Echo Park, California, to Joseph and Violet Kitchen. He attended Arroyo Grande High School in California. In death he was preceded by his parents and wife, Frances.
After high school, his father taught him to be a plumber. He became very successful and also worked in the construction sector. He installed and built all kinds of houses and businesses for many years. He retired three times.
He was passionate about cars and trucks and loved working on them and driving them, especially classic ones. Throughout his life he knew exactly what vehicle he was driving and all about it. His face would light up when he told stories of his passion for her. He enjoyed buying and selling vehicles. He also had his own plane and enjoyed flying with it for several years.
In May 1960 he married Frances. In 1967 they moved to Yelm, Washington. He continued to work in the plumbing and construction sectors. He also installed sewage treatment plants. He had a restaurant in McKenna and also owned a car wreckage in Yelm.
He started attending church in the early 1970s and decided to put God first in his life. He and his wife loved God and always had family and friends for barbecues, Bible studies, and get-togethers. He started singing in church and loved being with people. He even built a church here in Yelm. He loved camping with family and friends and enjoying his boat.
His wife went to heaven in 2014. He leaves behind seven children: Cherri Ranger, Jimmi Jan Harris, Linda Carpenter, Richard Kitchen, Cindy McMonigle, Thomas Kitchen and Joli Alonge. He also has 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He has two sisters, Candie Kitchen-Henderson and Cathie Ruff.
He married Sharon Iverson in 2015 and also has two children: Jon Bellows and Jody Bellows. He also has nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Crossroads Church, 11520 Bald Hill Road SE, Yelm.
