Installed In Minutes New Quick-Lock Pipe Rehab Sleeve Restores Structural Strength And Seals Out Infiltration

For stand-alone spot repairs or for pre-lining where there is high infiltration, the new Quick-Lock sleeve offers a quick, easy-to-install and economical way to repair broken pipes. It restores host pipe strength with thick 316L stainless steel and seals intrusion with a one-piece EPDM vulcanized rubber gasket. Suitable for wastewater, water and industrial applications, a Quick Lock sleeve can be installed in minutes with minimal fuss and effort.

“In the world of pipe rehabilitation, completing local repairs can still be a large undertaking,” says Sean Lipscomb, field operations manager at Pipeline Renewal Technologies. “Either you dig a road or you use a trenchless method and all that entails: resin mixing, winching, bypass pumping/plugging, washout risk, short pot life and long ambient curing times. Quick-Lock solves all of these problems.”

Quick-Lock is positioned within the host pipe on a mobile flow packer pushed by a standard CCTV tracked vehicle. Once the packer is in position, the air pressure supplied to the packer expands the sleeve against the pipe wall. Patented stainless steel gear ratchets in the sleeve maintain outward pressure, structurally strengthening the faulty areas of the host pipe and also compressing the seal for leak-free operation.

“The technology is as simple as it is effective,” says Lipscomb. “For small-diameter repairs, two people can install a Quick-Lock in about 30 minutes, and the only major equipment needed is a standard inspection track. This repair is typically comparable or better than spot repairs performed using other trenchless methods.”

Quick-Lock sleeves solve a variety of common pipe problems: infiltration, longitudinal and circumferential cracks, root intrusions, holes, leaks, misplaced connections and abandoned service lines. Quick-Lock sleeves are available in diameters 6-28 inches and lengths 16 inches and 20 inches. For longer repairs, several sleeves can be inserted into one another. The sleeve design conforms to ASTM F3110-14 for mechanical trenchless point repair.

“Quick-Lock is simply a much quicker way to perform spot repairs,” concludes Lipscomb. “The investment is minimal; material costs are extremely competitive; and the cost – in terms of equipment, personnel and time – is remarkably small. It opens up the opportunity to carry out spot repairs for everyone, from national restoration contractors to small municipalities.”
