HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A bit of a summer lull for the kitchen cops, as there are relatively few inspections on the sheets this week. One exception is Marshall County, which has released all of its results for the month of June.
DeKalb County
The Crossville FoodMart on Highway 68 has the lowest rating in the valley this week at 72. Inspectors say no one with a food safety certificate was on the job at the time of their visit. Also, several items were stored more than a week past their expiration date, mold in the ice machine and beverage dispenser, and an unlabeled bottle on the food equipment.

Manguito's ice cream truck has the lowest rating in Marshall County for June. Inspectors noted that there was no sink in the kitchen, a communal towel was used for handwashing instead of paper towels, there was no food thermometer and the water was not the right temperature. That brought the truck's rating down to 73. The brick-and-mortar restaurant got 90. Cazadores on Main Street in Grant got 79. There were employees without proper food safety training and sewage splashed on the ground outside the building. There were also several food temperature issues with shrimp, steak, sour cream and raw chicken.
The Jet Pep grocery store on Gunter Avenue in Guntersville received an 81 after inspectors found a broken food thermometer, dirty beverage nozzles and live cockroaches in the sink. The cockroaches were the last straw that forced the health department to send a notice seeking to revoke Jet Pep's license.
At Snack N Fuel on Baltimore Avenue in Albertville, there were problems with the temperature of the pizza, the soda cans were dirty and there were no paper towels in the restrooms. The hand washer dryer was also not plugged in. The restaurant gets an 81.
Next up is La Chimenea on Shipp Avenue in Albertville with an 82. Criticisms stemmed from grease on the floor, a misplaced sink and no hot water in a toilet.
The Rite Value Conoco on Gunter Avenue also has a score of 82 due to dirty soda dispensers, a broken thermometer and problems with its outdoor hose.
Scant City Food Mart in Arab adds another 82-point spot to the list due to no hot water in one toilet and issues with the temperature of food in several cases.
