Large hole opens in busy road after water pipe bursts in East Leake

A large hole opened in the middle of the busiest street in a Nottinghamshire village after a water pipe burst.

The hole was fenced in by Severn Trent Water workers after the pipe burst on Main Street in East Leake.

There are no problems with the local residents’ water supply, the company said.

It apologized for the disruption caused when local residents said the problem was causing traffic problems.

A Severn Trent spokesperson added, “We apologize for any disruption caused by our work on Main Street in East Leake.

“We were out investigating a burst pipe that was not causing a supply issue. However, we need to return with traffic management to safely complete the repair.

“We want to start repairs this week and then work on getting the road back to normal.

“We apologize again for the inconvenience this has caused, but our priority will be to repair the pipe and get the road back to its original condition as soon as possible.”
