LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, April 6, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – LITTLE KITCHEN ACADEMY TO ENTER THE US MARKET WITH
FIRST LOCATION IN LOS ANGELES, APPROX.
The Montessori-inspired cooking academy is slated to open in summer 2021
Today, the Little Kitchen Academy (LKA), the first of its kind Montessori-inspired cooking academy for children ages three to ten, announced the opening of its first U.S. site in Los Angeles, California, in iconic Westfield Century City, this summer 2021. Little Kitchen Academy is the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of Montessori-trained culinary expert and visionary Felicity Curin, who founded the organization with her husband, global brand and franchise expert and entrepreneur Brian Curin (Cold) Stone Creamery, Moes Southwest Grill, Flip Flop Shops and Praveen Varshney, Investor and Entrepreneur with Social Impact. The Los Angeles location was established to provide students with a safe, inspiring, and empowering space in which to develop and refine their senses, and to acquire important practical skills as well as confidence. It will serve as the flagship training center for the brand, which will expand worldwide.
“We are very excited to be bringing this concept from the ground up to the US and the Los Angeles community,” said Brian Curin, CEO and Co-Founder of Little Kitchen Academy. “Our Montessori-inspired approach enables students to learn the practical life skills necessary to thrive not just in the kitchen, but in school and in life.” Felicity Curin, President, COO and Co-Founder of Little Kitchen Academy, added, “It has been remarkably enjoyable to nurture and witness the growth and confidence of our students of all ages, and we are excited to share this journey of transformation to independence and discovery with families in Los Angeles and beyond. ”
Opening to mark the two-year anniversary of the launch of the first Little Kitchen Academy in Vancouver, BC, the 1,505-square-foot facility in Westfield Century City will share the same modern, innovative and signature LKA design with a hand-washing center, 10 individual cooking stations (also known as Little kitchens) that are physically appropriately separated from each other. Each small kitchen will be equipped with its own oven, induction hob, sink, detergents and disinfectants, prep table, blender and all the equipment and utensils needed to make the creations from scratch, including vegetable peelers, rolling pins and measuring spoons and sieves that are carefully stored, cleaned, and commercially disinfected between each class. Learning begins as soon as students enter the “Student Cooks Only” environment, where they are familiar with and practice properly washing hands. Each instructor and student wears an LKA chef’s coat from ChefWorks and a pair of BIRKENSTOCK chef’s shoes (two from several global brand partners) to begin their personal cooking journey.
The new location will incorporate elements from each of the Little Kitchen Academy’s strategic partnerships to ensure that an authentic, sustainable experience is delivered. This includes the ChopValue community table with more than 33,000 recycled chopsticks, where students can enjoy their creations at the end of each lesson as soon as the current Covid-19 restrictions are lifted (until then, students can safely dine at their individual workstations) . Emeco chairs are made from recycled plastic bottles and an eye-catching live food wall operated by AeroGarden so students can grow and harvest fruits, vegetables and herbs to use in their creations. Other global brand partners include Welcome Industries, which offers educational cooking tools, including fractional measuring cups that make cooking and learning math exciting and fun, and brand ambassador Iron Chef Cat Cora, a world-renowned chef, bestselling author, restaurateur, philanthropist and mother of six .
“As a Los Angeles native, chef and mother, I am delighted to welcome the Little Kitchen Academy to Southern California, where local families and children can experience joy, love and learning in the kitchen,” said Iron Chef Cat Cora, Advisory Board Member, Honorary Head of Recipe Development and Brand Ambassador for the Little Kitchen Academy. “I’m a passionate believer in the Little Kitchen Academy’s mission and have had the rewarding experience of seeing children grow firsthand when they use their natural sense of wonder and curiosity on the path to independence.”
LKA’s Montessori-inspired environment is organized to support the growth and development of every child. Instructors show students how to use tools safely, but step back to closely monitor independent work and only step in when safety is an issue. This approach allows students to learn at their own pace while developing practical life skills that foster independence, trust, and socialization. LKA also enables students to choose better foods, put age-appropriate math and science skills into practice, and use practices such as recycling, composting, and the concept of philanthropy to make positive, socially conscious contributions to the world through its recently announced global philanthropic initiative How Can I Help, which enables students to learn how to give back and make a difference by putting the choice in their hands to support one of four notable causes.
Sessions with three-hour courses take place all year round, are organized by age group for up to 10 students per session (ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and 13+ years) and are supervised by three teachers per class. The curriculum focuses on seasonal, locally grown, and organic products and ingredients. Students enjoy the fruits of their labor to have a “scratch-to-consum” experience.
In May 2020, the Little Kitchen Academy announced its plans to open more than 400 locations worldwide by 2025. She is currently looking for like-minded franchisees and multi-entity development partners based exclusively in AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, MS, NC, USA. OR, TX, WA, WI. Internationally, LKA is concentrating on further expansion into Canada, Australia, India, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the MENA region, Singapore, Spain and Great Britain
