May the Force Be With You (and Your Plumbing Problems)

Larry McVay founded Advanced Plumbing Technologies in 2004.

The terms “hydrojetters, rooters, and bursting machines” sound like terms from a George Lucas film. For the people at Olympia’s Advanced Plumbing Technologies (APT), these words are the common language of their business. Instead of battling dark forces in a galaxy far, far away, APT battles the forces of nature right here in our own backyards. With 40 years of combined experience and some fairly specialized equipment, APT will locate and repair most domestic and commercial outdoor plumber fights.

At the beginning

In 2004 the owner Larry McVay was working on a job at another company. An elderly customer was told that she would need to replace an entire line to fix her drainage problem. McVay felt she was being fooled and he went out of his way to tell her the truth. Needless to say, McVay’s employment with the company ended that day. On a budget of $ 400 and a shovel, McVay’s career as his own boss immediately began with this older woman who was his first job.

Trenchless technology

“Trenchless pipe replacement is our specialty,” says business partner Colby Langenberg. He explains how their color camera is used to pinpoint problems and that special pits are dug instead of excavations to repair damage.

Digging a garage floor can be extremely costly, while entry and exit pits are inexpensive and disruptions to the construction site are minimized. Langenberg eagerly describes how APT uses a cable fitted with a special tube that can be up to two hundred years old.

“A burst head is pulled through the line and literally bursts the old pipe and replaces it with a new pipe.” Langenberg explains that their pipes are fusion welded so there are no connections that can potentially break apart. As a lifelong resident of Puget Sound, Langenberg knows how harsh this climate can be for outdoor gear. Rain, mud and tree roots are just some of the culprits wreaking havoc on underground piping systems.

Good recommendations = good business

Olympic plumbingAdvanced sanitary technologies combat the forces of nature with special equipment.

Often times, people are unsure who to call when they have problems with sewage, water, and drains. APT works hand in hand with reputable plumbing general contractors and they are typically called when a problem is beyond the capabilities of an indoor contractor. “Eighty-five percent of our business comes from referrals from previous customers and companies in our community. We are a local company with an extremely high recommendation rate, ”says Langenberg.

Ed Knuckey, a satisfied APT customer, said of his most recent service: “Gentlemen, I want your prospects to know what timely and professional work they can expect from your company. It is an understatement to say that we are satisfied. “

Kevin Stormans, local business owner of Bayview and Ralph’s Thriftway, adds his recommendation. “We use Advanced Plumbing Technologies for all of our water and wastewater problems. The quick service, professionalism and quality of work make them our preferred company, ”he says.

Community engagement

Olympic plumbingAPT’s commitment to the South Sound Community is evidenced by the many local organizations that support it. Langenberg himself has been the co-captain of Relay for Life for the past two years, and APT has been helping needy families on site every Christmas since 2004. They are also heavily involved in a number of business networking events and park cleanings because APT recognizes that the community they serve is in turn serving the business.

Advanced Plumbing Technologies is a local company that specializes in the unexpected. They offer a unique service and a solid product with a 100% guarantee.
