Ministry of Rural Transformation donates 477 water meters and plumbing fixtures to water boards in Cayo, Stann Creek and Toledo

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labor and Local Government handed over 477 water meters and related sanitary fittings to water board representatives from villages in the Cayo, Stann Creek and Toledo districts.

The meters and fittings, valued at BZ$123,000, will enable each recipient water board to connect households in their community to the village's water system.

The ministry noted that the meters will enable expansion through new connections/installations, water regulation and water conservation, which will help each water authority improve its self-sufficiency efforts.

The donation is part of a recent purchase of 1,300 water meters that the ministry is distributing to water boards nationwide.

The Ministry continues to work on its mission to ensure that Belizeans in rural communities have reliable access to drinking water in their homes.
