New Hampshire inventor Laura Lady was paid $250,000 for her product called FryAway on the TV show Shark Tank in exchange for 22% of the company’s equity.

The show features entrepreneurs seeking investment from prominent panelists. The segment was filmed in September and aired on Friday. The monitor previously reported the results incorrectly.

FryAway is a powdered mixture that home cooks can add to leftover cooking oil or other fats and greases, turning it into a jelly-like substance that can be thrown away or composted instead of poured down the sink. Cooking waste that goes down the drain can clog sewer pipes — in cities it can form huge “fatbergs” that clog entire sewer systems — and severely damage sewage treatment plants.

Lady developed the powder’s proprietary formula through experimentation and began manufacturing it last year. It sells FryAway directly and through points of sale, both online and in stores.
