New York State To Help Homeowners Replace Septic Systems

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the State Septic System Replacement Program has raised $ 15 million in funding to assist homeowners. New York State will provide funding to the counties to reimburse eligible owners for a portion of the cost of replacing cesspools and sewage treatment plants and installing cleaner systems.

The program is a collaboration between the DEC, the Department of Health, the Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC), and participating counties to manage funding for qualified homeowners. A list of eligible counties and priority geographic areas in those counties can be found on the EFC website.
