OWENSBORO, Ky. – Owensboro Community & Technical College is launching a new Plumbing FastTrack program this fall. FastTrack programs use an “earn and learn” model that allows students to quickly acquire credentials so they can get to work in the field they want as quickly as possible. In addition to practical experience, instructions on building regulations and reading construction plans are given.
The courses start with an online introductory course. The laboratory courses cover basic plumbing skills, plumbing principles, plumbing systems and the rough-in of plumbing fixtures. At the end of the 12-month program, the student will receive multiple certificates including first year plumber mechanic, certified reflux tester, plumber, prefabricated and repair installer, heavy plumber, sophomore plumber mechanic, and maintenance plumber.
The courses prepare students for licensing and shading. The Plumbing FastTrack courses take place on Monday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students can work on job placement opportunities with a success coach. Classes begin August 16 at the Industry Innovation Center on the OCTC Main Campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.
