Community & Services

To keep individuals safe during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Orange County Construction Safety Division is providing remote permit inspection to licensed contractors and homeowners in residential and commercial properties in the area. The Orange County government quickly adapted to a new workflow and implemented new operational guidelines during this period to promote safety.

The implementation of remote inspections is consistent with Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings' goal to streamline the Orange County government's permitting process, CDC guidelines and economic recovery operational recommendations.

Remote inspections are offered at 30 minute intervals throughout the day between 8am and 4pm to request a remote inspection. Applicants must download the remote inspection form and ensure video calls. A helpful link has been provided to the technology provider to test the device prior to inspection time to reduce the potential for delays. No app download is required for this service.

When requesting the inspection, the construction site representative will select a day to conduct the inspection and select three time periods in order of preference. The time frames are filled on a first class basis.

Types of inspections currently offered:

  • Building
    • The final inspection of windows and doors
  • Electric
    • Residential buildings underground
    • Concrete binding/footer
  • Mechanically
    • Air conditioning change of final inspection
