Significant improvements to the building's plumbing, energy efficiency and fire protection systems, funded primarily through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program.
Ottawa's Bronson Center musical theater and community facility is receiving significant upgrades to its plumbing, building exterior, fire protection system and more after the federal government and the center itself committed more than $8 million.
Federal government funding comes primarily from the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program, with additional support from Employment and Social Development Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund and the federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario's Canada Community Revitalization Fund and Tourism Growth Program.
These upgrades aim to improve the building's energy efficiency while reducing costs and preserving the Bronson Center's role as an inclusive cultural space. The building welcomes more than 30,000 Ottawa residents each month for various community events.
“The federal government’s investment reflects our commitment to supporting communities and reducing emissions. As a local MP, I want the Bronson Center to remain a space for all as part of our efforts to revitalize downtown Ottawa,” said Yasir Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and MP for Ottawa Centre.
