The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close Morganton Road on NC 5 to Monticello Road next week, the village of Pinehurst said on social media on Tuesday.
The road closure begins on Wednesday, January 13th at 8 a.m. and ends on Friday, January 15 at 5 p.m.
The crews will replace a failed drain pipe.
In addition, during this time, NCDOT will be doing shoulder work along Morganton Road, primarily from Doral Drive to the traffic lights on Highway 15-501.
“Drivers should allow extra time for the detour and watch out for the crews working to repair and reopen this heavily used route,” the village said.
Companies in this area will have access during the closure.

The east side of Morganton Road in Southern Pines is also closed for a six month project.
The city of Southern Pines announced in early December that the East Morganton Road waterline replacement project will close East Morganton Road to through traffic from May Street to Indiana from January 4 through July 31.

“The main detour will be along Indiana Ave and the signs will be posted for direct traffic,” the city said Monday. “Local traffic will continue to be accessible via the adjacent side streets.”
