Pipe Core leads Cosmic UV vehicle fit out for Veolia Australia

A turnkey renovation vehicle specifically for UV relining solutions from Cosmic Engineering GmbH.

With the addition of a turnkey UV relining solution truck from Cosmic Engineering GmbH, Veolia has added another innovative trenchless solution to its service offering.

Cosmic Engineering specializes in sewer rehabilitation equipment and materials. The Austria-based specialist team has been working on innovating and perfecting the Cosmic System since the early 1990s and has developed a robot that can track, inspect, electrically mill, clean and repair sewer pipes and connections.

Using a patented GRP fiberglass that does not shrink and cures quickly, Cosmic has developed a TopHat “Lateral Connection Seal” that has been successfully installed over 150,000 times worldwide, as well as a “Quickseal” system for short liner repairs.

Both systems use UV light for curing and are ideal for quick, efficient and safe rehabilitation.

Recognizing the gap in the market for UV TopHat and patching solutions, Veolia, with the support of Cosmic's local distributor Pipe Core, celebrated the completion of its first truck in July 2023 after receiving certified Cosmic training in Australia.

Cosmic, Pipe Core and Veolia worked together to conceptualize the design of the van, which was equipped by Industrial Equipment Solutions.

In line with Veolia's ecological transformation goal of providing innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, the truck was equipped with two 160W solar panels to charge the internal lithium batteries and reduce CO2 emissions, as well as energy-efficient LED work lights.

The van also featured an under-mounted 55 liter water tank for washing up, full bespoke office equipment and bespoke interior fittings to suit work requirements, particularly where UV light exposure needs to be kept to a minimum.

Impressively, the transporter also features a 100kg winch to safely raise and lower the cosmic equipment to various locations.

“This vehicle will improve the efficiency of our operations,” said David Micallef, Operations Manager at Veolia. “This will also give us a unique position in the market.”

“We are excited to see how this setup will bring the best technology to the industry in a portable way. The van’s unique feature set is suitable for various locations and projects, particularly in urban areas where noise needs to be minimized.”

The equipment of this van meets the work requirements of the equipment in different environments and takes into account the needs of the driver both ergonomically and for safety reasons, exploiting the full potential of the Cosmic System.

With the Veolia crew now fully trained, this groundbreaking constellation offers Veolia even more opportunities to work on unique projects and find solutions to various trenchless challenges.
