BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. – Road maintenance projects and utility work will cause delays on a handful of roads in Central Bucks County this week. Check out the following detours and road closures before you head to work in the morning and afternoon.
Pipe replacement in Doylestown Township
DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Almshouse Road in Doylestown Township will be closed Monday and Tuesday, April 15 and 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a pipe replacement project. The closure will impact the road between Upper State Road and Lower State Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Upper State Road, Bristol Road and Lower State Road. Local access remains intact. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when driving near work areas as traffic congestion and delays may occur. All planned activities are weather dependent.

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. – Beginning Monday, April 15, PennDOT maintenance and contractor crews will repair damaged pavement on more than 45 state highways in the Philadelphia region, including three in Central Bucks County:
- Bristol Road in Warwick and Warminster townships.
- Rushland Road in Warwick and Wrightstown townships.
- New Galena Road in New Britain Township.
Crews will be restricting lanes on these state highways to repair areas of deteriorating pavement. Motorists are advised to be alert during this moving process and to expect intermittent lane closures and possible delays when driving near work crews. All activities are weather dependent. Motorists can report potholes and other pavement problems on state highways by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.penndot.pa.gov and clicking “Report a Problem.” Since January 1, PennDOT has used more than 2,100 tons of asphalt to repair potholes in the five-county Philadelphia region.
Court Street detoured in Doylestown Borough
DOYLETOWN BOROUGH, PA – PECO Energy will be performing utility construction work on Court Street between Main and Clinton Streets in Doylestown Borough through Friday, May 31st. The weekday closure is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Main Street, Business US 202 (Oakland Avenue) and Business US 202 (Clinton Street). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near work areas as traffic congestion and delays may occur. All planned activities are weather dependent.

Bridge replacement to impact traffic in Hilltown
HILLTOWN, Pa. – Construction will begin Monday, April 15, on a project to replace the Callowhill Road bridge over the Pleasant Spring Creek branch in Hilltown Township. As part of this project, PennDOT's contractor will replace the existing two-span masonry arch bridge with a single-span prestressed concrete spreader box beam bridge. Additionally, the roadway will be widened from 18 feet to 23 feet. Additional improvements include sidewalk rehabilitation, guard rail installation, and new signage and pavement markings. The 117-year-old structure, 47 feet long and 18 feet wide, was closed in September 2021 due to damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Before closure, the bridge was designed to have a weight limit of 34 tons and carried approximately 5,773 vehicles per day. During construction, motorists on Callowhill Road will continue to follow Route 113 (Main Street), Route 151 (Walnut Street) and South Perkasie Road as a posted detour. Local accessibility to the construction area remains intact. The closure will remain in place until the project is completed in fall 2024. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when driving near the work area as traffic jams and delays may occur. All planned activities are weather dependent. Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, York County, is the general contractor on the $1,763,335 project, which is funded 80 percent by federal funds and 20 percent by state funds.
Roundabout construction in Doylestown
DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA – Easton Road and New Britain/Sauerman Road in Doylestown Township. Construction work on two roundabouts will continue throughout the summer. New Britain Road is reduced to one lane between Easton Road and Rolling Hill Boulevard. During the lane closure, motorists are directed to use Lower State Road, US 202 and Easton Road. Drivers are advised to allow extra time to travel through the work area as traffic jams and delays may occur. All planned activities are weather dependent.
PECO utility work in New Britain Township
NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Through Wednesday, June 26, PECO will be conducting utility work on County Line Road between Lexington Avenue and Walnut Street and between Maple Avenue and Trewigtown Road in New Britain Township. A weekday lane closure is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when driving through or near work areas as traffic congestion and delays may occur. All planned activities are weather dependent. PECO Energy will undertake these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
Renovation of the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge
NEW HOPE, Pa. – Rehabilitation of the New Hope-Lambertville Free Bridge will continue through September. New Jersey-bound vehicles will be detoured over the Route 202 bridge. Westbound traffic into Pennsylvania will continue to travel over the bridge. The sidewalk will remain open throughout the duration of the project.
