Plover-Whiting Elementary closed Jan. 23 due to plumbing issue

PLOVER — Plover-Whiting Elementary School will be closed on Jan. 23 due to plumbing problems, Superintendent Cory Hirsbrunner announced Thursday morning.

In an email to families, Hirsbrunner said the district became aware late Wednesday that the building’s plumbing system was malfunctioning.

“While we believe the issue is a frozen pipe, we have been unable to locate the cause of the malfunction, and the plumbing system is not operational,” Hirsbrunner said. “As the building cannot accommodate the needs of students and staff, Plover-Whiting Elementary will have an instructional E-Learning Day.”

Hirsbrunner acknowledged the inconvenience for families and assured them the district was working to resolve the issue.

The district’s School Closure E-Learning Day protocols, which outline expectations for students and staff, are available online. Teachers will be accessible via email during the E-Learning Day, though parents and students are encouraged to be patient as teachers respond.
