Plumbers coined the phrase “Brown Friday” because of their need to clean dirty water and sewage.

Watch: Snake pulled from woman's toilet in Arizona

An Arizona snake expert managed to capture a black and pink carriage whip discovered in a residential toilet in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson after three attempts on two consecutive days.

“Homes full of vacationers require additional showers and more flushing toilets, which in itself puts a strain on residential drainage systems,” said Paul Abrams, spokesman for Roto-Rooter. “But as soon as there's a lot going on in the kitchen and the sink and trash can arrive with peelings, rice, poultry skin and greasy turkey fat, it quickly starts to clog up.”

The company said inbound service calls can increase 50% during the year compared to an average Friday and 21% compared to any other Thursday through Sunday.

However, they offer the following tips to avoid calling a plumber:

  • Do not pour fat or turkey fat down drains. They solidify in pipes and clog drains.
  • Never throw stringy, fibrous, or starchy waste in the trash. Most waste can be disposed of in small quantities, but it is best to throw most food waste into the trash can or compost pile.
  • Make sure the disposal is running when feeding him food scraps.
  • Do not flush wet wipes down the toilet. They dissolve slowly and clog the pipes.
  • Place a trash basket in the bathroom so your guests don't flush these items away.
  • Distribute showers and laundry loads.
