Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 12 and the Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association donate to local vocational programs in Quincy, Somerville and Boston : NEREJ

Boston, Massachusetts The Labor Management Cooperation Trust (LMCT), a partnership between Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 12 and the Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association (Greater Boston PCA), donated $9,000 to support vocational programs for high schools in Quincy, Somerville and Boston.

Checks of $3,000 each were issued by the LMCT to Quincy High School, Somerville High School and Madison Park Vocational High School in Boston. The donations are part of a joint campaign by the LMCT, Local 12 and the Greater Boston PCA to support high school vocational training programs and encourage students to consider careers in the plumbing industry.

“With astronomical tuition costs, careers in the skilled trades are a better option than ever for public high school students,” said Tim Fandel, executive director of Local 12. “We are always looking for the next great apprentice to join our union, help us build our communities and experience the difference unions make. The surest path to the middle class is through a union job, and these donations will help support students who choose careers in our industry.”

The checks were presented to the schools by leaders of Local 12 and the Greater Boston PCA during tours of each school's vocational training programs. Students met with leadership from both organizations to learn about career opportunities in the plumbing industry.

“Union plumbers build the plumbing systems that keep our communities healthy and safe, and we are proud to support the next generation,” said Andrew DeAngelo, executive director of the Greater Boston PCA. “These funds will help each school continue to offer robust vocational training programs so students have opportunities to succeed in the plumbing industry.”

The Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association is a coalition of 65 plumbing contractors based in the Greater Boston area. The Greater Boston PCA provides a variety of services including education, networking, collective bargaining representation, training and benefit fund representation, government relations, membership in a leading trade association (MCAA), and more.
