Plumbers warn Americans to plan ahead for “Brown Friday,” this holiday season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Plumbers across the United States are preparing for “Brown Friday,” the busiest day of the year in their profession, and an analysis suggests Los Angeles will likely be the most clogged city.
The country's plumbers refer to the day after Thanksgiving as “Brown Friday” because it is consistently the busiest day of the year, with an average of 50% more calls than the average Friday.
Plumbing company Roto-Rooter said the main cause was blockages in kitchen sinks, toilets and garbage disposals.
Roto-Rooter offered some advice for avoiding Thanksgiving weekend plumbing disasters, including keeping grease and cooking oils away from the sink, wiping grease from pots and pans with a paper towel before washing, and avoiding potentially clogging foods such as poultry skins. Celery, fruit and potato peelings go into the trash.
