Grand traverse county, me. (WPBN/WGTU)– The Arctic frost this week has employed the heating, cooling and sanitary department of Team Bob in Traverse City.
Josh Kent from Team Bobs said he received a few hundred calls for frozen pipes last week.
Even if the extremely cold temperatures are behind us, this does not mean that the risk of frozen pipes is much larger.
Kent suggests that you open cupboards, place room heaters nearby, pay attention to good insulation of the pipes and let water run at night to prevent freezing.
“Actually, there is always an opportunity at temperatures below 32 degrees, especially when it is outside. If it drops below 32, it almost guarantees it, ”said Kent. “Many houses have pipes in the basement that are not isolated. Even if the temperatures drop below 30 degrees, there is a risk that they freeze. “
If your pipes freeze, set the heat as high as possible so that you can thaw.
Several municipalities are subject to a water pipe warning to prevent frozen pipes.
This includes the city of Cheboygan, the municipality of Filer in the Manistee County and the city of Clare.
