The pipe will be laid in the pavement from Herbert Avenue outside Horizon Honda Poole to the collapse site on Ringwood Road.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “Due to other roadworks nearby, we have opted to install a temporary sewer pipe rather than complete the full repair immediately, which would require closing a southbound section of Ringwood Road.”
“This will avoid worsening traffic in the area whilst other roadworks are completed, particularly in the run up to Christmas.”
They said Wessex Water would be contacting BCP Council to arrange a date for the permanent repairs.
