Pune (Maharashtra) [India], Nov 29 (ANI/PNN): The 28th edition of Indian Plumbing Conference and Exhibition will be held in Pune on December 1-3, 2022 at Deccan College Grounds, Pune. The theme of the conference is ‘Advance in Plumbing for the Built Environment.’ The Indian Plumbing Conference is the national conference of the plumbing community organized by the Indian Plumbing Association in various cities across the country. More than 1,500 participants are expected to attend the conference, which will bring together professionals from the construction and plumbing industries, including MEP- Consultants who will include real estate developers, architects, interior designers, plumbing product manufacturers, plumbing installers, project managers, site managers and related professionals Gurmit Singh Arora, national president of the Indian Plumbing Association, said the conference will feature technical sessions on topics relevant to plumbing and water management Running for two days, December 1st and 2nd, it will serve as a common platform for professionals in the plumbing and related industries to share ideas and information on the latest products, installations and technologies.
Nilesh Gandhi, Chairman of the IPA Pune Chapter, said the choice of location was strategic as Pune is the most popular destination for emerging start-ups and educational centers and enjoys the position of an early riser in water and sanitation technology. He added that the conference will host knowledge sessions on water audit, BMS and IoT in sanitation applications, water reclamation and water sources, and how IoT is changing and driving cities to manage water. Case studies on achieving net zero water and waste are also presented. CXOs and senior executives from Wipro, ICICI Foundation, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, NEERI, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Lake Man of India and Rain Man of Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and leaders in the plumbing industry will be at speak at the conference.
Plumbing is a science and not only accounts for 13% to 15% of the cost of a building but is also a very important service as there are only two live lines in a building: plumbing and electrical. Sanitary is not only responsible for the water supply, but also hygienically disposes of waste. Recently, there have been many advances in sanitation technology that have resulted in more efficient and sustainable water management. But the irony is that these advances and best installation practices are not reaching the professionals of the construction industry. Through this conference we want to address this area and spread knowledge about innovation, best practices and Codal-based practices, added Gurmit Singh Arora. Fast growing real estate sector, government initiatives encourage rapid growth of plumbing industry
Rapid Urbanization, Real Estate Growth, Govt. Programs like PM Awas Yojna, AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) to cover 24/7 water supply in 4700 cities, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 to make cities sanitation and sludge free, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, ODF (Open Defecation Free) Provision Access to a toilet represents a huge opportunity and responsibility for the sanitation industry. Gurmit Singh Arora said Indian real estate has experienced very rapid growth in recent years as demand for built environments increases. These new building structures require careful planning and execution of all aspects of these built structures including mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Furthermore, India has 18% of the world’s population but only 4% of the freshwater, so we must strive to not only conserve water, but also to utilize the untapped resource, sewage. Recycling wastewater and using it appropriately will be a solution to our water problems. There needs to be a good amount of advocacy and communication on wastewater reuse. That’s why the transition to Net Zero water and sanitary waste is the need of the hour.
The need for architects and plumbing consultants to work together Architects and plumbing consultants need to work together during the execution of a project. Currently, by the time the Sanitary Advisor comes on board, the civil structure is already complete. We have encountered many problems installing correct plumbing systems on many job sites. Gurmit Singh Arora therefore said that the entire building community, including builders, architects and project managers, must be aware of the importance of sanitation. IPA conferences aim to raise awareness of proper installation practices. The 28th Indian Sanitary Conference in Pune will feature a diverse array of speakers from across the sanitation and construction industries who will highlight advances in sanitation for the built environment. The United Nations have adopted the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. 5 of the 17 SDGs are directly related to sanitation. The conference is also a way to achieve these SDGs by focusing on key SDGs such as clean water and sanitation.
Two memoranda of understanding are signed to achieve net-zero water and net-zero sanitary waste. The Indian Plumbing Association will sign Memorandums of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and the Singapore Plumbing Society (SPS). The MoU with the Indian Institute of Architects is to work collaboratively on matters of national interest such as water and sanitation, including water conservation, water efficiency and environmental protection through safe sanitation standards, to work towards designing projects to achieve Net Zero Water and Sanitary Waste, while the statement of intent with the Singapore Plumbing Society is to work together on Net Zero Water and Net Zero Sanitary Waste by following sanitation standards and ensuring that water consumption is reduced through the use of low-flow faucets and sanitary ware, rainwater harvesting, Reclaim Gray and Black will reduce water and ensure all construction projects are water positive.
Gurmit Singh Arora said that the Indian Plumbing Association, with the active support of its 24 Pan India Chapters, is persistently working to redefine plumbing standards in India. This will be achieved by raising awareness of the Indian building community on the importance of correct installation practices through IPA publications, events, conferences and water conservation missions. IPA has more than 6,000 members nationwide from all segments of the construction industry, including architects, PHE consultants, manufacturers, contractors, distributors and academics. Flagship initiatives such as Plumbex India, Indian Plumbing Professionals League, Indian Plumbing Today, Plumbing Codes, Plumbing Laboratory and I SAVE WATER Mission are concrete steps in this direction.
