PVI has expanded its family of Durawatt electric water heaters to include tank sizes of up to 2,000 gallons and outputs of up to 234 kW. The new capacities provide greater flexibility in meeting the needs of larger facilities and more complex water heating systems, such as those using heat pumps or hybrid systems. PVI now also offers custom versions of Durawatt for up to 3,000 gallons and 360 kW input power.
With the new sizes, the zero-emission, energy-efficient Durawatt series is now available in a wider range of performance to meet the growing demand for versatile and robust electric water heating solutions in the commercial sector. The new sizes offer the same high performance and efficiency as the existing line of Durawatt water heaters, with input powers ranging from 9 kW to 144 kW and tank sizes up to 750 gallons.
Advanced benefits for commercial applications
Durawatt's electric hot water tank supports a variety of commercial electrification and decarbonization projects. Whether used as a standalone electric water heating system, integrated with gas-powered equipment for hybrid systems, or used in a heat pump water heating system for backup, circulation and storage, Durawatt is ideal for efficiently complying with local codes and regulations. The water heaters comply with ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and are eligible for LEED certification.
Key features and benefits of Durawatt
- Expanded Capacity: Now available with input power from 9kW to 234kW and tank sizes up to 2,000 gallons, Durawatt can support larger volumes and higher recovery requirements, making it suitable for medium to large commercial facilities.
- High efficiency: With a thermal efficiency of 98%, Durawatt ensures minimal energy waste, supporting sustainability goals.
- Durable Construction: AquaPLEX duplex stainless steel storage is highly corrosion resistant, allowing for higher storage temperatures and ensuring long-term reliability.
- Simplified Maintenance: The design of individual Incoloy-clad heating elements rated at 9kW or 18kW allows for easier maintenance compared to traditional bundled heating elements. The result is reduced downtime and maintenance costs.
- Versatile Voltage Options: Standard construction includes 480V three phase, optional three phase voltages (208V, 240V, 380V and 600V) are available to meet specific project requirements.
Robust, long-lasting solution
Durawatt's robust design includes a 25-year warranty on the AquaPLEX tank. Commercial building owners and facility managers can rest assured knowing that the system will provide reliable service to their facility for many years to come.
Meeting the needs of modern facilities
As commercial buildings increasingly transition to electrification and decarbonization, the expanded Durawatt series offers a versatile solution to meet the diverse needs of current and future projects. Its ability to work effectively as part of an all-electric or hybrid water heating system makes it essential for facility managers and engineers looking to optimize energy efficiency and sustainability.
