Road Closed In Summit Due To Gas Pipe Replacement Project

SUMMIT, NJ – PSE&G is currently replacing gas lines throughout Summit and multiple roads will be affected.

Fernwood Road is closed between Hillcrest Avenue and Woodfern Road until 5 p.m. Thursday.

The work is expected to be completed by early summer 2023, depending on project progress in winter. PSE&G crews will be replacing main lines and services on the following streets in Summit over the next week:

Hillcrest Avenue between Bellevue Avenue and Woodland Avenue
Hillcrest Avenue between Woodmere Drive and Fernwood Road
Hartley Road between Canoe Brook Parkway and Woodland Avenue
Hawthorne Place between Beechwood Road and Shadyside Avenue
Whittredge Road between Hobart Avenue and Essex Road
Roundabout lane between rotary drive and rotary drive

Road closures and diversions are in place and summit police will be on hand to direct traffic. The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
