New Delhi: Two men allegedly died of suffocation while cleaning a septic tank at a private residence in southeast Delhi’s Old Jasola village on Friday. Police have booked the property owner.According to a senior officer, the police control room received a call about the fall at 1.07pm. “A team rushed to the spot and found that the two men were hired to clean the septic tank. They were using a tractor tank for the task. The men entered the septic tank to fix a malfunctioning valve and soon fell unconscious,” the officer said.A fire service team was called to the spot. Both the victims were brought out of the tank and taken to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead, said police.The cops said the septic tank cleaning was arranged by Iqbal Singh, who is atlarge. One of the deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Rajprakash Singh, who was the driver of the tractor.The identity of the secondvictim is still being verified, said police.A case has been registered and further investigations are under way to verify the details. Teams have also been formed to locate and apprehend Iqbal.
