Social Science Research Building: Plumbing Upgrades project

May 22, 2023

On Monday, June 5th, a project to modernize the sanitary facilities and toilets in the SSRB will start. The work will last until the end of September 2023. The project will replace the building’s original plumbing, upgrade bathrooms to make them accessible, upgrade furnishings and fittings, and add two all-gender single toilets and a mother’s room. The work will be carried out on all floors, including the basement and attic, generally around the existing toilets and the adjacent hallway.

Building occupants and visitors can expect:

  • During the entire project, no toilets will be available in the SSRB. There will be signage directing residents and visitors to Harper Memorial Library or Foster Hall for restroom use.
  • There will be occasional service interruptions in the building throughout the duration of the project. Notifications are sent in advance.
  • Noise and vibration are associated with this project.
  • Employees will be on site from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The walkway between Foster Hall and SSRB is used for deliveries and removals.
