State Theater kitchen renovations approved | Local News

Renovation work is due to be carried out on the kitchen of the State Theater.

Elizabethtown City Council on Monday accepted an offer from Corbett Construction Company of $ 99,750, about $ 150,000 under budget, for the renovation.

According to Facility Management Director Scott Reynolds, the kitchen will be upgraded to commercial space. This includes the renewal of the plumbing and electrics as well as the installation of a new air conditioning system.

The offer was approved 4-2, with Council members Marty Fulkerson and Julia Springsteen voting against.

During the meeting, Fulkerson said he needs to know the return on investment, such as how many catering events the city has lost, before agreeing.

The council also approved participation in a nationwide settlement of lawsuits against manufacturers and distributors of opioids.

After years of negotiation, the municipal order states that “two nationwide settlement agreements have been reached that would resolve all opioid lawsuits brought by state and local authorities against the three largest pharmaceutical distributors McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmersourceBergen and manufacturer Janssen Pharmaceuticals “. Inc. and its parent company Johnson & Johnson. “

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has joined both settlements and waived any claims on behalf of the city under the settlement process.

In addition, councilors recognized Russell Allen, heard a presentation from Hardin County Citizens for Responsible Solar, and approved a sidewalk payment waiver for Faith Apostolic Church.
