Super-slim 9ft-wide converted garage that has a sofa facing the kitchen sink is listed for rent for £1,000 a month

  • The property, in Milton Keynes, is believed to have been converted from a garage
  • It is described by the estate agents as making a ‘great use of space’

A one-bedroom home measuring just 9ft wide has gone on the rental market – with an asking price of £1,000 a month.

The new-build property is so narrow that the sofa is turned to face the kitchen sink, while the tiny bedroom is in the roof space.

It is understood the home’s slight stature is due to it being recently converted from a garage, and is dwarfed by the next door property it shares a wall with.

Estate agents Aztek Sales and Letting said the home makes ‘great use of space’ and would ‘suit a single occupancy’.

Pictures of the home, on a cul-de-sac in Emerson Valley, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, give an indication of its miniscule size.

Visitors are immediately met with a flight of stairs in the living room area.

The kitchenette – which is under the staircase – features a sink, oven, washing machine and a cabinet just big enough for a microwave to be perched on top.

The living area is so compact that someone sitting on the sofa may also be able to close the washing machine door opposite with their feet.

The new tenant will need to squeeze past the living area area to reach the bathroom – which is fitted with a toilet, sink and shower.

The upstairs bedroom is just about large enough to fit a double bed.

The landlord is asking for £1,000 a month for the home, on a one-year minimum tenancy, plus a £1,153 deposit.

The Rightmove listing states all bills are included.

It adds: ‘Aztec are delighted to offer this unique property as a fully furnished rental.

‘Set in the area of Emerson Valley, this is a recently built one-bedroom property. All fixtures and fittings are of beautiful design.

‘A lot of care and attention has been given to maximise the living space.’

Home-hunters were left in stitches when they came across the bizarre listing.

Social media users left scathing comments about the home’s modest size

One person, called Chloe, said: ‘Love coming home after a long day, sitting on the sofa and watching the tap run.’

A second wrote: ‘I’ve never seen a place where the term “couldn’t even swing a cat” actually applies.’

Another added: ‘The absolute greed of some landlords’.

Last year a home in London measuring just 6ft at its narrowest sold for £775,000.
